Instead of having the seats ordered in a straight line, the new arrangement places seats in a staggered way with adjacent seats in a row facing away from each other. As a result, even in the reclined position, the usable cushion area is maximized. Although the patent aims to increase the seat count in first class, it does not compromise on comfort, and in fact claims to improve it.
