On February 5, 1861, Samuel Goodale patented the first moving picture peep show machine.
Samuel Goodale’s moving picture machine basically took several pictures and ran them in sequence in front of a light or candle. This created the illusion of a moving image.
Users had to look through a magnifying glass and turn the crank, on the machine.
The machine became a standard feature of fairs and freak shows around the country.
