Google plans to provide media enhanced pop-up books

Google filed multiple patent applications for media enhanced pop-up books this week.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

A storytelling electronic device is attached to physcial pop-up books. The storytelling electronic device detects a pop-up page when the pop-up page pops-up, and presents media content associated with the detected pop-up page

For example, when a pop-up page is opened (as shown in the figure), the storytelling electronic device illuminates the tree pop-up element, which enables the reader to see an owl in the tree. Additionally, the storytelling electronic device causes the speaker in interactive book to play the audio file to make the “hoooo, hoooo” sound.

In another version of the invention, the media content may be presented on a display attached to the physical pop-up book.
