Nowadays we store our food in the refrigerators to keep it in good condition. Also, the makers of refrigerator claim that the food stored in the refrigerator stays fresh and in good condition. Buying into that claim we tend to store food in the refrigerator for long durations. The claim is very bold and misleading as the refrigerator only slows the process of decay and merely gives the appearance that the food is in good condition. It is very hard to tell whether the food is spoiled or not if it is stored in the refrigerator for long durations.
A recent patent publication reveals that Amazon has developed a refrigerator that will identify the spoiled food kept in the refrigerator. The refrigerator has infrared cameras placed in each compartment to capture the image of the food. The images are analyzed to determine whether the food is spoiled or not. The analyzes may find mold, mildew or fungus growing on the food. Further, color associated with the food is an indication that the food is spoiled. It is quite difficult for humans to identify such changes in food. Additionally, the refrigerator will generate an alert to indicate that the food stored in a particular compartment is spoiled and transmit that alert to your mobile devices.
This refrigerator might prove to be a lifesaver for people who tend to store their food for long duration in their refrigerator and are oblivious to the food spoilage.
