You must have experienced jetlag when traveling long distances by air. People who are sensitive to the oxygen concentration in the air are prone to experience jet lag if the oxygen concentration in their vicinity fluctuates. The jet lag also disturbs your sleep pattern making you drowsy, irritable, lethargic and slightly disoriented.
A recent patent publication reveals that Boeing has developed a personal enhanced oxygen breathing devce. As shown in the figure above, you can wear the device it over your head like a headset. The headset directs the airflow having enhanced concentration of oxygen in the vicinity of your mouth and nose to assist your breathing. The headset is connected to a gas separation filter that separates and isolates oxygen, which is then pushed out through an outlet of the headset.
The headset will make your journey more pleasant and comforting. I frequently take long distance flights, and I often suffer from jetlag. So I will look forward to using the headset in near future.
