On March 18, 1947, Quinlan Pretzel Company patented a Pretzel twisting machine.
Pretzel is a type of baked bread product made from dough most commonly shaped into a twisted knot. There are numerous unreliable accounts regarding the origin of pretzels, as well as the origin of the name; most presume that they have Christian backgrounds and were invented by European monks.
With the advent of the modern industrial food production, even pretzel production was industrialized. The patented pretzel twisting machine is supplied with dough strips of uniform thickness from a cutter via conveyor belts. The machine then twists the ends of the dough strips and then folds them over to form the completed pretzels.
