Airbags on motorcycles to make your travel safer

Airbags on motorcycles to make your travel safer

Two-wheeler road accidents are one of the major reasons behind the accidental deaths in the USA. Since the riders are not safe from skidding. The causes of skidding include sharp turns, unbanked turns, obstacles such as pebbles, water, oil spills etc. Sometimes skidding is inevitable and the body parts most vulnerable to skidding are the legs, the feet, and the knees. Without the proper safety gears, it can even lead to death. Since about 2004 over 4,000 people have died every year up to 2014 in motorcycle accidents, and in 2007 and 2008 deaths exceeded 5000 per year [IIHS.org].

However, thanks to an innovation by Nitin Govind Ram, the two-wheeler users can feel much safer.

PATENTED TECHNOLOGY

According to the patent by Nitin, an airbag apparatus is installed inside the motorcycles. It is present on both the front and the rear ends on both sides of the bikes. These 4 airbags will automatically deploy to provide a cushion in the event of an emergency condition. This will prevent any major injury from happening.

When not deployed, the airbags are housed inside the retainers on the front and rear side of the motorcycles. The mechanism behind the activation of the airbags initiates by detecting an emergency situation, which is done via the help of sensors such as tilt and impact sensors. Both these sensors have some predefined stored value also known as the threshold value. Whenever the value received by these sensors exceeds the threshold value, it detects an emergency condition. Next, the method includes activation of at least one of the inflator configured to the supply inflation gas which fills up at least one of the rear and front airbag when the emergency signal is received.

ADVANTAGES

The advantages of this technology are pretty evident. There have been airbags inside cars for a really long time to ensure the safety of the users. It is time to provide the same sense of safety for the motorcycle users. This technology will provide that sense of safety into the minds of the user.

WHAT IS YOUR TAKE?

So what do you think? Can this be the next revolutionary idea in motorcycle industry?
